Cabin Fever fabric give away!

Yikes, I have cabin fever *B*A*D*! Do you get this? How do you deal with it? This is one of the worst years ever! Can the "hormonal" issues of being age 50 have something to do with it? (yes, the "M" word). I am going to go clean up my stash (again). When I am done I think I might have 1 fat quarter left! LOL :)

I want to hear some cabin fever solutions and I'm going to draw names and send fabric to for creative solutions posted in the comments here! I'll have a bonus for what ever post makes me laugh the hardest :)

Drawing on 2/22 Let's have some fun!

I had it in Phoenix in the summer because it was always to hot to go outside. One summer I was determined to bring the green trees of Washington into our home by painting one wall a deep green. Only problem was I came off the ladder, stepped in the bucket of paint and it spilled all over the newly laid gray tile. My husband began laughing at the sight and then wondered how long it would take for the green to wash away. No problem I told him and before he could speak, I took the paint brush and painted all the grout green to match. To this day when I say I am bored, he forbids me to paint & he refuses to ever have another green wall in our home!

Oh good ole cabin fever. Yes, it is bad this year. I wonder the Same thing about the big "50" coming up or is just that this winter has been colder, seems longer, less sunny days, oh I guess I could go on about how bad it is. Me, I planned a vacation to disneyland, otherwise, when the sun is out and the wind isn't blowing--LOL which isn't to often, I go for a walk, even if it is around the block 3 times. I also buy fresh flowers this time of year--the smell and seeing something bright and fresh always helps.

We live in Oregon so it's always raining here i the winter. When it gets to bad my husband and I just head out for a walk anyway even if it means we will be soaked in the end. I got so crazy last weekend I went out and started spring cleaning my garage. Now that's desperate for me.

I have stayed inside WAAYYYY too long....with all the snow and wind storms here in SW Ohio. But....can you beat this for getting rid of "cabin fever?" I am going on a business trip next week, for 2 weeks to....Costa Rica!! I will have a whole weekend with plenty of free time to fabric shop? Not sure what I will find there.....Think I'll need an extra suitcase???

cabin fever has hit this house too-so i painted my nails bright colors(from my 10year olds stash) and started an easter quilt with the same bright colors. I'm so sick of snow!

Cabin Fever - me too; 50 - just last week; love fabric - we must be twins! I painted two kitchen walls "old barn red", not sure what to do with the other two yet, but they will be something light. Thinking about bringing the wadding pool in to the tv room and watching John Candy's "Summer Vacation" while sipping a drink with an umbrella in it!! It's 11 degrees in MN today, BUT the sun is shining!!!

It's wet, wet, wet here in Darwin - everything is going mouldy. So I try and ignore it (?) and think up another sewing project. Sue

I live in Florida! Come see me!

In the summer here, sometimes it's just too hot to spend a lot of time outside. I think just getting out of your own 4 walls makes a big difference. Go to the Mall, go see a friend....just do something different! I know it's most likely cold where you're at but I think I'd bundle up and take a walk if I could.

Dress for the weather, grab your camera and go photograph things that inspire you creatively or make you laugh. In the summer I look for yard art and gardening ideas but for a 'cabin fever' remedy the concept still applies... look for stupid signs, original looking mailboxes, that sort of thing. On inclement weather, transfer those images to fabric and make an art piece or lap quilt. Use your Short Cut Crazy Quilt technique to make a colorful dog coat - then take the pooch for a "walking advertisement". : ) A co-ordinating neckerchief would be quite the statement -- an maybe the jump off to a new book?

Hey you guys are great! Oh, I used to walk everywhere, every single weekday and snowshoe on the weekends. But I've fallen 3 times this winter and we just got a Chinook, which means the snow melted down to water on ice. No going out - seriously. I just got a treadmill in the living room, I am going to point it at the window, listen to Jimmy Buffet and put suntan lotion on my face, just to smell it! LOL I *love* all your suggestions :) Thank you so much - -big smiles on my face :)

Cabin Fever - I get it to every year here in Alaska. Whenever I feel like I can't take another day inside - I usually pick up the phone and call someone who I haven't talked to in at least a year. I end up chatting with them for over an hour and by the time the conversation is over, I've forgotten about my cabin fever and have begun verbally punishing myself for wasting so much time on the phone *LOL* when I could have been doing ...laundry, dishes, QUILTING, or anything else in my house that constantly needs doing. But it's always worth connecting with old friends. :)

I go mooching around blogs from cold countries....I have a romantic, deluded idea that snow is like what you see on tv....all light and fluffy....and cross stitch snowman ornaments! It is how I came across your blog today....Walked in the door after working in a hot classroom all day...turned on the air conditioning and then the computer! I'm ready to face anything....except maybe going outside!

Hi Marguerita
I went to your blog to send this but it said it was over 300 characters and wouldn't let it be sent.

I'm a little older(~; than you like 69. I really got the cabin fever this year as we have really had cold temp. and snow and a lot of days without any sun. I leave one of my plastic summer chairs on my front porch. When I get that closed in feeling I bundle up real good and go out and set in that chair as long as I can. It really works. Karol A Price

I get cabin fever bad this time of year - just waiting for the warm weather...my solution is to go to the web cams of Florida beaches, and just look, and look! (That's a great idea from another comment, maybe I'll put some suntan lotion on, so I can smell it!!) I'm 50, also, maybe we aren't as patient as we used to be, waiting for spring? :) Jacque in SC

I'm thinking that in Seward, you could just take your fever outside and douse it in the snow. It will also help the "M" overheating. =)

I hope you found a great solution, and have more than one fq left in your stash!

I get cabin fever bad. This year is awful for me. I try to get out as much as possible. I try to just step out on the porch for a few minutes each day but it does not help much. I would get one of the lamps but they are expensive. I have just been going into my sewing room to work on my quit to try and get around it.
